Belco Cats achieve Good Sports Level 3 Accreditation

We are a Good Sports club

Sporting clubs such as ours play a significant role in the community and have a responsibility to our members and their families.

We have chosen to join over 9000 clubs across Australia taking part in the Good Sports program. Through Good Sports we are committed to managing alcohol responsibly and ensuring smoke free areas, which we believe will help us to provide a healthy, safe and family friendly environment.

Together, we are helping inspire a healthier sporting nation.

Return to Play; Revised date 24 -26 July 2020

On Thursday 9 July 2020, the ACT Government Chief Health Officer announced a postponement to Stage 3 of the Easing of Restrictions Roadmap until following a checkpoint conducted to be held on Thursday 16 July, 2020. Until such time residents within the ACT will remain at Stage 2.2 and our current Return to Contact Training Protocols remain in place. AFL Canberra has the utmost confidence in the regions football communities capacity to adapt and work together to ensure that everyone will be appropriately prepared to deliver the 2020 season.

Throughout this period the AFL have continued to provide up-to-date information to the local football community. You can view this here

Injuries, Insurance Claims & what to do

With the season now underway we will unfortunately (but hopefully not) see some serious injuries. It is often confusing about what we can do as a Club and how AFL Canberra supports us through this. If the injury sustained is significant you may wish to look into an Insurance claim. Marsh Insurance is the insurance company that covers the AFL & can provide this advice.

Making Claims

Making a Personal Injury Claim

If an injury occurs to one of the clubs players or volunteers, you should do the following:

  • Visit the Marsh AFL website to read the Summary information https://afl.jltsport.com.au/players/community

  • Download the Personal Injury Claim Form from the “Making a Claim” section. You will need to have this signed by the Belconnen Cats President prior to submitting it.

  • Complete the Claim Form and submit it to Echelon Australia within 180 days from the date of injury (sooner rather than later).

  • Do not wait for treatment to cease before making a claim

Talk to your Coach, Manager or a Committee member for further information.

Policies, Rules & Regulations

Keep yourself up to date with all the Policies, Rules and Regulations provided by AFL Canberra. We encourage you take the time to look over the Code of Conduct. A key document that helps keep our game safe, inclusive and seeks to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all participants.

You can view this through the AFL Canberra link here
