Appointment of 2024 Committee

It's that time of year again when footy is over but we ask for you to think about contributing to our club for next season!

At Belconnen Cats, we are a club that is about community and providing a nurturing environment for our children to play AFL.  Without Coaches and Managers we can’t field teams for your children to play in.  But more importantly, without a committee to administer the club we can’t provide an environment for Cats Junior AFL to exist.

Our current committee has a number of parents who have been contributing for many years, but their children are getting older and moving on.  It’s time for regeneration to ensure our wonderful club can continue to support our amazing families.

To fill the gap of departing committee members and fulfil all our obligations, we need more of our Cats community to step up.  The role of Secretary is vacant for 2024 and needs to be filled.  Gemma (current Secretary) will still be on committee for 2024, however it would be great to have someone working with her to take on duties with a view to her departing for 2025.

Other important roles such as Auskick and Coaches’ Coordinator are currently undertaken by those already on the committee with other responsibilities.  We would love to see more of our younger Cats families step into roles and provide input to the future of Belconnen Cats.   Jobs like managing the website/social media and a fundraising coordinator to help with BBQ’s and the like are also available.

For 2024, incentives provided for committee participation will include a reimbursement of your first child’s registration.

Please come along and get involved with the running of our club either at an executive level or on the general committee. All current and past committee members started with no experience except for a love of the game, the desire to assist their children participate in football at the Belconnen Cats and to support the local community.

All committee positions are on a voluntary basis. If you have ideas and suggestions on how the club can provide the best possible environment for junior football, then now is the time for you to step forward. You can find more information on position roles and responsibilities here.

If you cannot attend the AGM but would like to have your say, you can also appoint a proxy for the purposes of voting at the meeting.  Please email Gemma Hansen, Secretary secretary@belconnencatsafl.com.au, to ask about this process or complete the form and send to Gemma.

For all enquiries including the agenda, proxy voting and committee nomination forms please contact 2023 Belconnen Cats Junior AFL Club Secretary, Gemma Hansen at secretary@belconnencatsafl.com.au.

We are looking forward to many interested members attending and also new people joining the committee for a successful 2024 season.

President
